Spanish greetings: hola, buenos días and goodbye
Say hello, say goodbye, and greet someone at any time of day.

Spanish greetings change with the time of day.
Buenos días in the morning, buenas tardes in the afternoon, and buenas noches once it's dark.
Hola works any time, and you can put them together: ¡Hola, buenos días!

- hola: The h is always silent in Spanish.
- buenos días: Use it until about lunchtime.
- buenas tardes: From lunchtime until dark. In Spain that can be 8 or 9 p.m.
